Prepare for motherhood—not just for taking care of a baby.

A 100-prompt guided journal to help you prepare your heart and your life for becoming a mother.

There are endless resources for learning how to care for a baby. Becoming Mama is for everything else: who you want to be as a mother, what kind of family you want to build, what you want to carry forward from the way you were raised, what you want to do differently, and how you want your work, relationships, support, and the rest of your life to fit into motherhood.

I teamed up with my best friend Kelsey, a licensed professional counselor, to create the resource we both wish we’d had when we were becoming mothers a few years ago.

Going to a baby shower? Everyone else is buying for the baby. This one’s for her.

  • Hardcover with a soft, velvety cover and gold foil

  • 360 pages

  • Measures 6.5 × 8.5 inches

  • 100 guided journal prompts

  • Each prompt followed by 2.5 lined pages for thoughtful reflection

  • Satin ribbon to mark your place

Your journal ships within 36 hours of your order

(or first thing Monday morning if ordered over the weekend).

You’ll receive tracking as soon as it’s on the way. Ships from the U.S.

Because our books and journals are created to become meaningful keepsakes, all sales are final and we’re unable to accept returns or exchanges for items that arrive as ordered.

We work hard to include detailed descriptions, photos, and sample pages so you can get a clear feel for exactly what you’re purchasing before you order.

Of course, if your journal arrives damaged or we accidentally send the wrong item, we’ll absolutely make it right. Just email us within 7 days of delivery with a few photos, and we’ll take care of you.

As seen on...

The part nobody put on your registry

Somehow, we’re given more advice than we ever dreamed possible about some parts of having a baby—and for the parts we’re the most nervous about, the answer is basically: You’ll figure it out.

How to feed the baby? Here are 400 opinions. Which car seat to buy? Here’s a spreadsheet.

But what happens to your work? Your marriage? Your friendships? Your body? Your time? What kind of home do you want your child to grow up in? Which parts of your own childhood do you want to repeat—and which ones absolutely stop with you?

And maybe the biggest one:

What do I want motherhood to look like for me?

That’s the part we wanted help with.

Becoming Mama helps you start answering those questions now—before you’re trying to figure them out in real time, on two hours of sleep, with a crying baby in your arms and everyone else’s opinions getting louder.

You can’t plan motherhood perfectly. But you can go into it with a clearer sense of what matters to you, what you want, and the kind of family you’re trying to build.

What these 100 prompts will help you figure out:

✔️ How to become a mom without disappearing. Which parts of your life do you want to protect, even as you make room for a baby?

✔️ What kind of mom you actually want to be—when your family, your friends, and the internet all have opinions.

✔️ What you want to repeat from your childhood, and what stops with you. You get to decide what it feels like to grow up in your home.

✔️ What you want work to look like after the baby arrives. Not what you’re supposed to want—what works for your family and matters to you.

✔️ What you and your partner expect from each other. Talk about the work, the support, and how you’ll stay close before unspoken expectations turn into resentment.

✔️ Who you can turn to, and what you can ask for. Because “let me know if you need anything” is lovely, but it doesn’t tell you what to say back.

Meet the Authors

Stephanie May Wilson

I’m a bestselling author, TEDx speaker, and host of the Girls Night podcast. For more than a decade, I’ve walked closely with women as they navigate life’s biggest decisions and transitions. My own road to motherhood included infertility and IVF—and one healthy embryo that became my twin girls, Annie and Quinn. I’ve learned firsthand just how much this transition asks of a woman.

Kelsey Bennett, M.S., LPC

I’m a licensed professional counselor who helps women and couples become the parents—and the people—they want to be. I’m especially passionate about helping women heal generational patterns so they can enter motherhood with intention instead of just surviving. I’m also a mom to two boys, Bodie and Jace.

Why we made this together

We’ve been best friends for more than seventeen years, walking the road into motherhood and every other major life transition arm in arm. Through our own experiences and our work with women, we kept noticing the same gap: endless advice about the nursery, the registry, and the gear, but almost no guidance on how to prepare for the actual shift of becoming a mother. So we made the journal we wished we’d had.

FAQs

No. You can start while you’re thinking about motherhood, trying to conceive, or pregnant. There’s no “right” point to begin.

Neither. It’s about you becoming a mother: the life you want, the family you’re building, and the changes you want to prepare for. It isn’t a place to track appointments or record baby milestones.

No. There are 100 prompts, but you can move through them at your own pace. Some answers may come quickly; others might be worth coming back to.

The journal is written for you, but many prompts can help you start conversations together—especially about expectations, support, and the kind of home you want to create.

The journal asks about the values and experiences that have shaped you, including what role faith or religion may have played in your family. It doesn’t require you to hold a particular belief.

The journal helps you figure out what you want motherhood and family life to look like for you. The course goes further into practical decisions about things like work, money, childcare, and the day-to-day reality of life with a baby.
