I wrote The Between Places during one of the hardest seasons of my life.
I checked into a small hotel room in downtown Nashville for a quiet writing retreat,
carrying a backpack filled with my Bible, old journals from the most confusing and painful seasons I’d walked through…
and a small bag with an ice pack, two needles, and a vial of medicine.
I was four weeks away from our IVF embryo transfer.
Six weeks away from finding out if it had worked.
Giving myself shots every morning.
I had no idea what God was doing
or what news was ahead.
And it was from that place of waiting—
of deep uncertainty—
that this journal was born.
That weekend, as I read back through my old journals,
I was reminded of every between place I had ever lived through…
